Supported app types and editing paths
You can build an Exepad app in Exepad Studio, where you describe it to Exepad’s built-in AI builder, or with an assistant you connect to Exepad. ChatGPT and Claude connect as AI assistant plugins, on every Exepad plan; ChatGPT eligibility applies separately. Claude Code and other coding agents connect as developer access, on Exepad Pro: see Connect your coding agent. This page explains what each one builds and which one can change an app later.
App types
Section titled “App types”Every app is one of two types, whichever way it is built:
- A one-page site presents content on a single page, with sections and links, and saves nothing.
- An app with data has several pages, or saved records, sign-in, email, files or AI.
Every plan builds and previews any kind of app. Free puts one one-page site live, with no expiry; putting an app with several pages, saved data, sign-in, email or AI live needs Go ($8 a month) or Pro ($25 a month). See Plans.
What an assistant builds
Section titled “What an assistant builds”An assistant you connect creates each new app from Exepad’s starter template. It reads Exepad’s authoring guide, writes the app’s code, and has Exepad build a private preview that only you can open. Nothing goes live until you approve a publish in Exepad.
Arbitrary existing repositories are not supported: an assistant can’t bring a project you already have to Exepad. To start from an idea you already have, ask your assistant for a new app and describe what you need.
Which interface can change which app
Section titled “Which interface can change which app”How an app was made decides what can change it later. Check which case your app is in before you edit it.
| How the app was made | What can change it |
|---|---|
| In Exepad Studio, from a prompt | The built-in builder made it, and an assistant you connect can continue it: choose the app when you connect. |
| By an assistant you connected | The assistant. The app shows in Studio with its preview and latest build, and its changes come from the assistant. |
| In Studio, before assistant editing existed | It stays in Studio. |
These three are the supported paths. Don’t plan on moving an app back and forth between the built-in builder and an assistant.
AI inside apps
Section titled “AI inside apps”Apps your AI builds can't use AI models yet; for AI, create the app in Exepad Studio. See Usage and wallet for the monthly limits on AI inside apps.
